Be on the lookout for the audition choreography videos for your age group. Dancers will have to learn the steps on their own and present it on audition day in groups

WHAT WE DO
The Merge Dance Collective Team is selected by this audition process and spends a year dedicated to learning routines, touring regional and national competitions, performing for the local community, and are immersed in additional opportunities such as conventions/workshops, modeling, content creation, scholarships, and more! the final MDC team is selected from dancers that audition at Barre None, and out Toano sister studio, Prodigy.

GENRES
MDC auditions will include combinations in Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, and Hip Hop. The team regularly competes in these dance styles as well as Musical Theatre, Lyrical, Acro Dance, Heels, and more!
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are currently looking for male and female dancers between the ages of 5 to 18 who are interested in showcasing their talent and being a part of our award winning team! MDC accepts dancers at various competitive levels from beginner to advanced.
Potential, Passion, and Performance quality are what stand out at auditions!
AUDITION FORMAT
Choreography videos will be sent out upon registration to all who sign up for auditions. Each dancer will need to learn the choreography for their age group on their own. On audition day, we will be viewing the choreography for each age group and determine the 2024-2025 team based on their presentation. Additionally, we may ask dancers to demonstrate basic skills, stretches, postures, etc.
If a dancer wishes to be considered for a solo, they will have to audition separately on the same day and improv for the audition judges.
HOW TO PREPARE
To increase your chances to making the team, dancers should:
Attend our FREE Audition Clinic (See above Section)
Be currently enrolled in some form of dance, gymnastics, and/or cheer class
Stretch, strengthen, and work or basic skills
Study dance videos, combinations, and choreography
WHAT TO BRING ON AUDITION DAY
Masks are optional but recommended
Water Bottles (drinking from the water fountain is strictly prohibited)
Wear Neat, form fitting dance attire of your choice
Bring shoes for Jazz, Lyrical/Contemporary, Hip Hop, & Tap*
Hair should be neatly styled and pulled out of the face
Makeup is optional; but if it makes your dancer feel great then go for it!
Bring your best moves and energy! Auditions are about showing off what you do best, make sure we see it!
* You DO NOT have to have knowledge of ALL these dance styles to be considered for the team. In your audition form, please specify if there is a dance style you have no experience in (such as Tap)
